Meet Us
James Garvey
James is Senior and Managing Partner at Hockfield & Co and Head of the Housing and Property Law Team. He acts on behalf of a number of social landlords in connection with litigation, leasehold, housing management and property work. He also provides advice on residential and commercial property and acts on behalf of a range of property owners in the purchase and sale of commercial property and the purchase and sale of commercial businesses. He has been described in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as "consistently spot on and quick to respond with thorough and detailed information" and as having the ability to "communicate very technical information in a comprehensive way".
James has Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Law from Coventry and London; was admitted as a solicitor in January 1983 following training in general practice. He is a Board Member and former Vice Chair of a registered social landlord and member of the Social Housing Law Association.
His spare time is largely taken up with sporting activities - dinghy sailing, mountain biking and running.

Lucy Jackson
Lucy Jackson became a partner with Hockfield & Co in 1987 and heads the Civil Litigation Department. She specialises in Personal Injury and Professional Negligence claims.
Lucy is on the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. She acts for both Claimant and Defendants in a wide variety of Personal Injury claims, from the multi million pound claim to those involving less devastating injuries.
In Professional Negligence matters Lucy acts exclusively on behalf of claimants against former legal advisors. She has extensive experience of dealing with claims arising out of civil litigation and conveyancing. She has successfully concluded many such claims which have been brought in both the High Court and County Court.
In addition she also has a small non-contentious practice, dealing with Will drafting and Probate.

Sarah Mossop
Sarah Mossop is a salaried Partner with Hockfield & Co and practices in the Housing Department, acting for housing association landlords and local authority and private tenants.
After graduating from Cambridge University and taking her professional exams at the College of Law, Sarah trained with the Charity Law specialists ‘Bates Wells and Braithwaite‘. She joined Hockfield & Co in 1996 to specialise in housing litigation work and now has over 12 years experience in this field. Over that period she has dealt with the full spectrum of housing litigation and advice work, both for housing associations and tenants. Over recent years, she has developed particular expertise in anti-social behaviour work.
Sarah is a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association and she participates in the Duty Solicitor scheme at the Lambeth County Court.
Sarah has three young children and currently works in the office three days a week [Monday-Wednesday].

Michael McCrone
Michael McCrone is an Associate Solicitor specialising in all aspects of housing law, including possession actions, evictions, disrepair, homelessness and anti-social behaviour. Michael regularly represents tenants on the Lambeth County Court duty possession scheme and is a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association.
Michael also advises clients on building disputes and leasehold matters, to include service charge disputes, lease extensions, leasehold enfranchisement and rights to manage.
Michael graduated from Aberdeen University with MA in Sociology and completed CPE and LPC at University of Westminster, after careers in teaching and working in the construction industry. The technical knowledge he has acquired from the latter has provided invaluable experience for dealing with building disputes and disrepair matters. He joined Hockfield & Co. in 2004.

Robert Synnott
Robert Synnott is an Associate Solicitor specialising in Civil Litigation, primarily Personal Injury, but also Professional Negligence, along with non-contentious work in Wills and Probate.
After graduating from Leicester University with an honours degree in Economics and Law, Robert attended York College of Law and subsequently qualified as a Solicitor in May 2003. Robert worked for a couple of years for Amery Parkes in Basingstoke before joining Hockfield & Co in November 2004. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Robert enjoys acting for both Claimants and Defendants in connection with a range of civil litigation matters.
Outside of work Robert enjoys music, reading, foreign travel, running and socialising. He is also a keen Plymouth Argyle fan.
